* AT 158 AM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A
BROAD AREA OF HEAVY RAIN SHOWERS WITH EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING
SLOWLY EASTWARD ACROSS NORTHEAST GEORGIA. RADAR ESTIMATED RAINFALL
RATES UP TO 1.5 INCHES PER HOUR IN THE HEAVIEST SHOWERS FROM
THUNDERSTORMS OVER HART AND NORTHERN ELBERT COUNTIES...AND THESE
RAINFALL RATES ARE LIKELY TO CONTINUE THROUGH 3 AM.
* RUNOFF FROM THIS EXCESSIVE RAINFALL WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING TO
OCCUR...ESPECIALLY ALONG SMALL STREAMS AND NEAR LOW WATER
CROSSINGS. FLOODING WILL BE MOST LIKELY FROM RUCKERSVILLE TO
HARTWELL...ESPECIALLY NEAR THE ELBERT AND HART COUNTY BORDER.
FLOODING WILL ALSO BE MORE LIKELY ALONG GUM LOG BRANCH AND COLDWATER
CREEK SOUTH OF NUBERG...AS WELL AS BEAVERDAM CREEK AT HORSE FARM
ROAD.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM THIS STORM WILL CAUSE MINOR FLOODING OF SMALL
CREEKS AND STREAMS...URBAN AREAS...HIGHWAYS...STREETS AND UNDERPASSES
AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.
BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE
DANGERS OF FLOODING. IF FLOODING IS OBSERVED ACT QUICKLY. DO NOT
DRIVE THROUGH AREAS WHERE WATER COVERS THE ROADWAY.
