HOT AND HUMID WEATHER PREVAILED ACROSS EASTERN KANSAS MONDAY
AFTERNOON. WITH MOSTLY SUNNY SKIES...LATE AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES
RANGED FROM 90 DEGREES AT WINFIELD...TO 104 DEGREES AT SALINA. HEAT
INDICES OF 103 TO 111 DEGREES WERE COMMON ACROSS THE AREA. WINDS
WERE SOUTHERLY AT SPEEDS OF 10 TO 20 MPH.

A LARGE AREA OF HIGH PRESSURE ALOFT WILL CONTINUE FROM THE SOUTHERN
AND CENTRAL ROCKIES EASTWARD ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS. THIS WILL
KEEP ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES IN PLACE WITH UNCOMFORTABLE HUMIDITY
LEVELS. ISOLATED THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE POSSIBLE OVER WESTERN KANSAS
THIS EVENING. SMALL CHANCES OF THUNDERSTORMS WILL EXTEND FROM
NORTHERN KANSAS TO IOWA LATER TUESDAY AFTERNOON. OTHERWISE...MOST
AREAS WILL REMAIN DRY.

LOWS TONIGHT WILL VARY FROM THE 60S OVER THE CENTRAL HIGH
PLAINS...TO THE UPPER 70S OVER NORTHEASTERN KANSAS. HIGHS TUESDAY
WILL GENERALLY RANGE FROM 98 TO 105 DEGREES. AFTERNOON HEAT INDICES
OF 105 TO 112 DEGREES WILL BE COMMON FROM OKLAHOMA...INTO CENTRAL
AND EASTERN KANSAS...CENTRAL AND EASTERN NEBRASKA...IOWA...AND
NORTHWEST MISSOURI. HEAT ADVISORIES HAVE BEEN POSTED FOR THOSE
AREAS.
