.DISCUSSION...

Collapsing showers and storms over the Wind River Mountains this
afternoon are causing dry downsloping winds gusting 30 to 60 mph`
at times near the forecast area. Lander has already experienced
a few of these wind gusts between 2 and 3 PM this afternoon.

Otherwise an upper level disturbance acting on a couple of surface
boundaries in addition to the mountains are initiating isolated to
widely scattered showers and storms to the south and west of the
forecast location. Most of the showers and storms will have little
rainfall but locally very gusty winds at times. This condition will
continue into the early evening before dissipating.

Wednesday will see a more benign atmosphere with slightly warmer
temperatures but much smaller chances for gusty wind potential as
no showers or storms are forecast and ambient wind when mixed
out may only gust to around 15 mph in mid afternoon. Best chances
for significant rainfall will arrive late Thursday afternoon and
evening as the monsoon pushes better moisture back into the area.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
...Haines index is high level haines both day and night...
