Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Pago Pago AS
138 PM SST Sat Nov 18 2017

.Short term...
TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...Current model data show a surface
ridge just south of the territory dominating weather conditions
for American Samoa through the short term. This surface ridge is
forecast to migrate eastward slowly. Hence, expect gentle to
moderate easterlies to remain across the forecast area, with
periods of showers to move across the islands.

.Long term...
TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...As the aforementioned ridge migrates
further east and away from the territory, model data show a
surface trough forming north of the area, bringing a slight uptick
in showers and clouds briefly on Tuesday. This trough is
anticipated to move further west and dissipate. Light and
variable winds will prevail, and make room for afternoon showers
and fair skies through most of the long term.

&&

.Marine...
Latest PacIOOS Wave buoy data show heights remaining below
advisory thresholds through today. Winds are also below advisory
criteria and are anticipated to remain below thresholds through
the remainder of the forecast period. Hence, will cancel both
advisories for high surfs and small crafts.
