AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION FOR AMERICAN SAMOA AND INDEPENDENT SAMOA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PAGO PAGO AS
200 PM SST SAT FEB 6 2016

.SHORT TERM...
.TONIGHT THROUGH MONDAY NIGHT...COMPUTER MODELS SUGGEST VERY DRY
WEATHER CONDITIONS AND MINIMAL SHOWERS OVER THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS.
A DEVELOPING CIRCULATION WELL WEST OF THE REGION WILL CREATE HUMID
CONDITIONS ACROSS THE AREA. A SURFACE RIDGE TO THE SOUTH WILL ASCEND
TOWARD THE SAMOAN ISLANDS THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON THUS ALLOWING
LIGHT AND VARIABLE WINDS UP TO 10 KT TO ENTER THE AREA STARTING
SUNDAY MORNING. THEREFORE...ANTICIPATE PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY
SKIES AND WARMER TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE SAMOAN ISLANDS.

.LONG TERM...
.TUESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...LOW-LEVEL CONVERGENCE WILL ENHANCE CLOUDS
AND POSSIBLE TSTMS JUST OFFSHORES OF THE SAMOAN WATERS THROUGH THE
WEEKEND. A LOT OF WEATHER ACTIVITY WILL OCCUR A COUPLE HUNDRED MILES
SOUTHWEST OF SAMOA AND NEAR THE DATE LINE...AND THIS EVENT WILL
LIKELY BRING RAINFALL NEAR THE REGION BEFORE THE END OF THE LONG
TERM FCST PERIOD. FOR NOW...WILL KEEP AN EYE ON THIS EXPECTED SITUATION.
ANTICIPATE ONLY MINIMAL SHOWERS AND GENTLE TO MODERATE BREEZE OVER
THE NEXT COUPLE DAYS.

&&

.MARINE...SEAS OF 5 TO 7 FT WILL PERSIST OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL DAYS.

&&

.PPG WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
.NONE.
