Elevated to locally-critical fire weather conditions will continue across portions of southern New England and the Mid-Atlantic today. Record heat is expected in the southern Plains into portions of the Southeast into the weekend. Tropical Depression Kong-Rey has developed near Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.
