Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Boise ID
855 PM MDT Wed Sep 18 2024

.DISCUSSION...Decreasing clouds in the north along with light
winds and rain earlier in the day will allow for patchy fog to
develop in the valleys overnight, including the Long Valley
(McCall). The fog will dissipate by mid-morning. Otherwise, a
stable pattern will support mostly clear skies, light winds, and
warmer temperatures on Thursday. No updates.

&&

.AVIATION...Generally VFR. Patchy fog overnight, especially in
central ID mountains. Surface winds: variable 5-10kt. Winds at
10kft: variable 5-15 kt.

KBOI...VFR. Mostly clear. Surface winds variable 5-10 kt.

.PREV DISCUSSION...
SHORT TERM...Tonight through Friday night...Dry weather, light
winds and mild temperatures will prevail over southeastern
Oregon and southwestern Idaho through Friday. Skies will be
mostly clear as well except for tonight in the central
mountains of Idaho where clouds are lingering in the wake of the
exiting upper low. A second upper low moving southward along
the Pacific coast will pass well to the south of the forecast
area and will not have any significant impact on our weather,
but may spread a few more clouds into the area along the Nevada
border on Thursday.

LONG TERM...Saturday through Wednesday...Dry weather will
continue with temperatures remaining within a few degrees of
seasonal normals through the weekend. Most models continue to
show an upper level ridge building over the area early next
week, which should allow the dry weather to continue with warm
and sunny afternoons and cool clear nights.
