.DISCUSSION...
No hazardous fire weather conditions are expected at this time, as
relative humidity values and winds will remain outside of critical
thresholds.
Temperatures will be quite hot today and tomorrow. Outside of the
higher elevations in far north Georgia, high temperatures will rise
into the mid to upper 90s each afternoon. With increasing moisture
across the forecast area, heat index values each afternoon could
range from 98-104 degrees. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will
be possible in east-central Georgia this afternoon and evening, with
diminishing chances to the north and west. Winds will pick up from W
after sunrise this morning, steadily increasing until reaching 5-10
mph this afternoon. Minimum RH values this afternoon will range from
30-40 percent across the majority of the forecast area. A few
locations in west-central Georgia my drop below 30 percent. On
Monday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will advance southward
through the area ahead of a frontal boundary. Winds will be W in
central Georgia and NW in north Georgia (behind the front),
increasing to 8-12 mph with occasional gusts as high as 20 mph in
the afternoon. Minimum RH values will range from 35-45 percent
across the area. Mixing heights each afternoon will rise to between
5000-8000 ft each afternoon.
