.DISCUSSION...

Good morning! As the ridge of high pressure to the north of the area
continues to weaken, the tropical low pressure is currently
positioned over southeast Georgia. At this time, no further tropical
development is expected as it meanders slowly northward today.
Increased atmospheric moisture will nonetheless continue to advance
north and west through the state on the west side of the low.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across portions of
east-central Georgia by mid-morning and through the afternoon hours,
but chances for precipitation at the site will be less than 10
percent throughout the day. With partly cloudy skies forecast
throughout the day and plenty of sunshine, temperatures will climb
over 80 degrees by 10 AM and above 90 by 2 PM and through the
remainder of the afternoon. High temperatures will reach as high as
94 degrees this afternoon. Heat index values are forecast to be
slightly higher, rising to 95 between 3-5 PM this afternoon. Winds
will start the morning from E at 2 mph, increasing to 3-5 mph by 10
AM and through the remainder of the day.

Winds will diminish after sunset, becoming SE at 2 mph or less, then
shifting to near S by 4 AM. Temperatures will drop below 80 after
midnight and down to a low of 73 degrees. Winds will shift to W by
mid-morning and increase to 8-10 mph by noon and through the
afternoon, with occasional gusts up to 15 mph. Chances for showers
and thunderstorms on Sunday afternoon are once again expected to be
mostly southeast of the site. However, there is a chance that an
isolated storm could move over the site, warranting a 10-15% chance
of precip, primarily in the afternoon. Temperatures and heat index
values will continue to rise on Sunday, with temperatures rising
above 80 by 9 AM and above 90 by noon. High temperatures are
forecast to be 96 around 4 PM in the afternoon. With steadily
increasing moisture, heat index values will be over 95 throughout
the afternoon, reaching as high as 98 around 4 PM. Please feel free
to contact us at 770-486-1133 extension 4 if you have any further
questions or concerns.
