...ON THIS DATE IN WEATHER HISTORY...

In 2006, a large, slow moving thunderstorm caused flash flooding on
many rural roads in the northwest quarter of Wichita County Kansas,
generally north of highway 96 and west of highway 25. Measured
rainfall amounts of 3 to 6 inches were common from spotters and the
general public the next morning. Gravel was washed off a road near
Ladder Creek about 13 miles northwest of Leoti and there were many
reports of more than 6 inches of water flooding roads. South of
Burlington, 1.5 feet of water was reported crossing roads.
