.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 307 PM CDT Tue Jun 11 2024

Tonight through next Monday...A mid/upper shortwave will continue to
shift east through the Lower Mississippi River Valley through
tonight. As this departs, high pressure and ridging aloft will build
into the region from the west and will remain in control of our
weather through the remainder of the forecast period. As a result,
quiet conditions will prevail across the forecast area through the
remainder of the work week and into the upcoming weekend.

By late Sunday into Monday, high pressure will reside east of the
forecast area. Chances for isolated to scattered showers and storms
will be on the increase across the forecast area during this time.
This`ll be as a result of a slug of moisture, associated with a
northward drifting wave, lifts into the gulf coast states from the
Gulf of Mexico. The better coverage of convection will during the
afternoon hours as a result of daytime heating, but some isolated
activity will remain possible Sunday night and Monday night as our
airmass will remain warm and unstable at that time.

As far as temperature are concerned, a drier airmass will reside
across the CWA Wednesday through Saturday. However, temperatures
will steadily become warmer each day through the weekend. While lows
tonight and Wednesday night will be in the 60s, as we get into the
weekend they`ll be in the low and middle 70s. Then for highs, we`ll
top out in the mid 80s to around 90 on Wednesday. However as Friday
and the upcoming weekend rolls around, highs will top out in the mid
90s to around 100. These high temperatures Saturday into Sunday,
factored with increasing moisture across the CWA during that time,
could result in the threat for increased heat stress across
portions, if not all, of the forecast area. This potential will
continue to be monitored in upcoming forecasts, as a "Heat Advisory"
may need to be hoisted for portions of the area. With good rain
chances currently advertised over the CWA on Monday, highs will be
held in check as they range from the upper 80s to lower 90s. /19/
