.Synopsis for the southern California coast and Santa Barbara
Channel including the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary
and National Park...at 09Z, or 2 AM PDT, a 1031 mb surface high was
centered 1100 NM W of Eureka, California, while a 993 mb thermal
low was located over southwestern Nevada. West to northwest flow
will increase through Monday evening as a low pressure system
passes just north of the area. Low end Gale Force wind gusts are
expected thru the Santa Barbara Channel to the waters near Point
Dume Monday afternoon and evening, with dangerous short-period
steep, choppy seas. Boaters should remain in safe harbor from Monday
afternoon and until conditions improve.
