.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

Update...
The 12z Miramar sounding showed a 10.5C degree inversion based
near 2100 feet, and a nearly saturated layer as low as 1200 feet.
Low clouds cover the coastal basin as of 9 AM, but clouds are
starting to erode across the eastern valleys. Most inland areas
should clear by late morning or early afternoon, though passing
clouds will likely be seen through much of the day at the coast.

Highs will warm region-wide today, with highs 6-10 degrees warmer
than Sunday across the eastern valleys, the mountains and
portions of the deserts. Temperatures will reach the upper-60s at
the coast, the 70s to 80s across the inland valleys as well as the
mountains, the mid to upper-80s in the Inland Empire, the mid-90s
in the High Desert and the mid-100s in the lower deserts.

Previous Discussion (Issued 240 AM PDT Mon Jun 10 2024)...
A quasi- stationary upper low will spin off the Southern
California coast through Wednesday. This trough combined with an
intermittent coastal eddy will keep the marine layer depth between
2000-2500 ft deep this week, with low clouds spreading into the
valleys each night retreating back to the coast each afternoon.
The upper trough will also bring scattered mid and highs clouds.

An upper ridge centered over Arizona today through Wednesday will
bring warmer days to the deserts, mountains and some of the inland
valleys. Tuesday will be the hottest day with high desert highs near
100, lower desert highs from 105-110, and mountain highs in the 80s.

On Thursday and Friday upper low off the coast trundles eastward
across SoCal for a few degrees of cooling. Then warmer again next
weekend behind the departing trough.
