.DISCUSSION...Increasing risk of critical fire weather conditions spreads
over the burn area today as winds strengthen out of the southwest
alongside dry afternoon relative humidity values. While most
elevation bands and slopes will see stronger winds today, the
strongest are expected on windward slopes, ridges, and aligned
drainages. Winds are anticipated to remain elevated overnight
along ridgetops, which will help contribute to poor overnight
recoveries. Heading into Sunday, winds will continue to increase
out of a southwesterly direction with dry conditions remaining in
place, contributing to another day of near-critical fire weather
conditions. The amount of warming and drying over the burn area
could be altered depending on whether or not a smoke plume
develops from the upstream Little Twist fire and moves over the
burn site. If a significant plume from the upstream fire moves
over the burn site, temperatures could be up to 5 degrees lower
than forecast and humidity 5 percent higher than forecast.
