At 428 PM, National Weather Service radar detected a large area of
showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rain generally over much
of eastern Oklahoma and into northwest Arkansas. Thunderstorms with
locally heavy rain were located in Nowata, Leflore and Sequoyah
counties in Oklahoma. The precipitation was in the Tulsa and Fort
Smith areas. Movement was to the northeast at around 20 mph. The
average amount where it rained last hour was one tenth to one
quarter of an inch with maximum amounts of an inch and a half to two
inches. Intensity decreased during the last hour. The Tulsa area
forecast for late this afternoon and into this evening, mostly
cloudy, showers and thunderstorms likely with temperatures 73 to 78
degrees and southeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
