145 FNUS52 KCAE 210756 FWFCAE Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Central South Carolina and East Central Georgia National Weather Service Columbia SC 356 AM EDT Fri Jun 21 2024 .DISCUSSION... A hot, typical summer pattern will continue across the area. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected this afternoon and evening today mainly across the southeast Midlands associated with a sea breeze front and the approach of a tropical wave/low pressure from offshore. The chance of showers and thunderstorms spreads inland over the weekend as moisture increases. A weak cold front will move into the area late Monday into Tuesday to focus scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. A weak wind shift to the north is expected Tuesday with slightly drier air spreading south. Moisture increases again mid week with another weak cold front approaching the area, so expect a chance of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will be above normal. Fog potential for tonight: Patchy fog is possible mainly near area lakes and rivers.
