...DENSE SMOKE ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 PM AKDT THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Visibility one mile or less in dense smoke.

* WHERE...Fairbanks Metro Area.

* WHEN...Until 3 PM AKDT this afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The shift to westerly winds has not yet
  occurred to blow the smoke out of the Fairbanks area. The winds
  have remained calm and light and variable. Therefore, conditions
  are now expected to improve by mid-afternoon. However, dense
  smoke will likely return late this evening/overnight and well
  into tomorrow. Smoke looks to be dense at times through the
  early to middle part of this week.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons with respiratory illnesses should remain indoors to avoid
inhaling smoke. If driving, slow down, use your headlights, and
leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

  Highway between Salcha and Birch Lake.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to low visibility.
