The month was dominated by a combination of northeasterly outflow wind regimes from strong areas of high pressure centered over the northern British Columbia / Canadian Yukon region that brought dry and mostly clear conditions to the region and mainly weak to average frontal systems that approached the Panhandle that brought mostly light to moderate precipitation on average to the area. The average temperature for the month was very near normal for all 4 climate sites. All of the sites were appreciably below normal in terms of total monthly liquid equivalent precipitation. The values ranged from 1.4 inches below normal for Juneau Airport to 7.55 inches below normal for the Ketchikan Airport with the other 2 sites having their below normal magnitudes in between those 2 values. On the 1st of February, the Juneau Airport broke its daily snow accumulation total record with 7.0 inches, which exceeded the previous record of 6.5 inches set all the way back in 1961. On the 16th of the month, the Ketchikan Airport broke its record high temperature with 55 degrees, which exceeded the old record of 54 degrees set all the way back in 1964. On that same day, the Yakutat Airport broke its record high temperature with 48 degrees, which exceeded its old record of 47 degrees set in both 2015 and 2016. Chambers $$
