Coastal Waters Forecast for the Lower Texas Coast

Lower Texas coastal waters from Baffin Bay to the mouth of the
Rio Grande out 60 NM.

Seas are provided as a range of the average height of the highest
1/3 of the waves, along with the occasional height of the average
highest 10 percent of the waves.

.SYNOPSIS...Ridge of high pressure across the north half of the
Gulf will maintain generally favorable conditions through
Wednesday with light to gentle winds and slight seas. Tropical
Storm Helene is expected to become Hurricane Helene while moving
north-northeast through the eastern Gulf of Mexico later
Wednesday through Thursday evening. Resulting swell will begin to
arrive to the lower Texas coast beginning Wednesday night,
building wave heights and seas. Meanwhile, a weak cold front is
expected to pass through the western Gulf Coastal Waters by
sunrise on Thursday, accompanied by a brief period of moderate to
fresh northerly winds through Thursday evening. The combined
effects of the front and swell will result in wave heights and
seas peaking between Thursday evening through much Friday. Small
Craft Advisories for seas may be needed Thursday through Friday. A
weak high pressure resumes on Friday, continuing through the rest
of the weekend along with subsiding seas.
