...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING WESTERN LAKE SUPERIOR...

The areas affected include...
  Lake Superior west of a line from Saxon Harbor WI to Grand Portage
  MN beyond 5NM...
  Silver Bay Harbor to Two Harbors MN...
  Taconite Harbor to Silver Bay Harbor MN...
  Two Harbors to Duluth MN...

At 507 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms, capable
of producing winds to around 30 knots, small hail, and frequent cloud
to water lightning. These strong thunderstorms were located along a
line extending from 8 nm northwest of Split Rock Lighthouse to near
Castle Danger to 9 nm northwest of Two Harbors Protected Access Agate
Bay to 16 nm northwest of French River, moving east at 50 knots.

Locations impacted include...
Beaver Bay, Two Harbors Protected Access Agate Bay, Castle Danger,
Larsmont, Split Rock Lighthouse, Twin Points Safe Harbor, and Silver
Bay Marina and Ore Dock.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect wind gusts up to 33 knots, locally higher waves,
cloud to water lightning strikes, small hail, and heavy downpours.
Boaters should seek safe harbor until these storms pass.

These strong thunderstorms will likely produce winds up to 33 knots,
and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A Special Marine Warning
may eventually be required. Boaters should consider heading for shore
before these storms arrive.
