...The National Weather Service in Des Moines IA has issued a Flood
Warning for the following rivers in Iowa...

  West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg affecting Palo Alto and
  Pocahontas Counties.

  West Fork Des Moines River at Humboldt affecting Humboldt County.

.Moderate to major flooding is expected along the West Fork Des
Moines River. These crest forecasts may approach the flood of record
at some locations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer to
weather.gov/desmoines/water.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

River forecasts include observed precipitation plus forecast
precipitation through Sunday morning.

...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...
...REPLACES RIVER FLOOD WATCH...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg, or from near
  Graettinger to Cylinder Creek near West Bend.

* WHEN...From this evening until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 13.5 feet, Water threatens US 18 west of Emmetsburg
  as well as the Northern Natural Gas distribution plant.
  Sandbagging operations may occur for the sewer plant and wells.
  At 14.0 feet, Sandbagging operations occur for businesses along US
  18 on the west side of town in and near the flood plain.
  At 14.5 feet, US 18 is closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 11:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 10.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    late this evening and continue rising to a crest of 14.0 feet
    Monday morning. This forecast crest would be the second
    highest crest in history for this location and would surpass
    the crest of 13.8 ft set in June of 1993.
  - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast. This approaches the flood of
  record.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Humboldt, or from Joe
  Reasoner Dam to the East Fork Des Moines River.

* WHEN...From Saturday morning until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Flooding affects streets from S 13th Ave
  southward.
  At 14.5 feet, Water affects houses along W River Dr.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 11:15 AM CDT Friday the stage was 9.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    tomorrow morning and continue rising to a crest of 14.9 feet
    Wednesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
