...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN ROBESON...NORTH
CENTRAL FLORENCE...DILLON...EAST CENTRAL DARLINGTON...NORTHWESTERN
MARION AND SOUTHEASTERN MARLBORO COUNTIES THROUGH 530 PM EDT...

At 457 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong
thunderstorms over Latta, or 8 miles southwest of Dillon, moving
northeast at 10 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Dillon, Fairmont, Latta, Rowland, Lake View, Clio, Sellers, Fork,
Blue Brick, Zion, Hamer, Mars Bluff, Brownsville, South Of The
Border, Minturn, Elrod, Raemon, Oak Grove, Francis Marion University,
and Barnesville.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 95 in South Carolina between mile markers 172 and 198.
 Interstate 95 in North Carolina between mile markers 1 and 10.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Conditions are favorable for the development of weak, brief funnel
clouds. This type of funnel cloud is harmless, but on rare occasions
they can briefly touch down, producing wind gusts over 50 mph. If a
funnel cloud is spotted move indoors and report your sighting to the
National Weather Service.

Continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Move indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature`s leading
killers. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to
be struck by lightning.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
