Issued at 1040 PM EDT Wed Jun 26 2024 The reverse cloudline today was well underway this afternoon when we started the afternoon shift. This cloudline though was not as enthusiastic as yesterday`s. There were no noticeable lightning activity today and we did not receive any reports of waterspouts. So in summary, a more active cloudline in terms of precipitation but not so with lightning or waterspouts. All of the activity came to a halt shortly after 7 pm though an outflow boundary from the southern mainland tried to intrude across the Upper Keys and surrounding waters. This didn`t last long and barely any effects were felt. Winds are a little lighter tonight as we are in between features. A cold front is marching across the northeast and drapes back to the southwest into the Lower Mississippi Valley. This along with an accompanying upper level trough is helping to push a ridge out across the Atlantic further east. This is leaving us in a temporarily weakened pressure regime. As a result winds are light and almost variable across the island chain and surrounding waters. Given a weaker flow, moisture will find it hard to coalesce into new showers overnight. The best chances may be off the Upper Keys where earlier convection has left behind boundaries and that is if these boundaries can collide with enough force to generate lift. Therefore, have maintained slight chance PoPs for the overnight. && .MARINE... Issued at 1040 PM EDT Wed Jun 26 2024 A weak ridge axis will extend westward from the western Atlantic across the Straits of Florida overnight through Thursday morning, with light to gentle southwest to west breezes prevailing over the Keys waters. Breezes may become variable at times during this period. The ridge will shift back northward Thursday afternoon through Friday, allowing light southeast breezes to resume. Building high pressure over the western Atlantic during the weekend will bring gentle to moderate easterly breezes across the Keys waters. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1040 PM EDT Wed Jun 26 2024 Dry, VFR conditions expected for the overnight. Chances are lower for any showers to redevelop, therefore have omitted any mentions of VCSH at this time. Given the weak flow in place, another round of cloud lines are again possible Thursday afternoon. && .KEY WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... FL...None.
