Through 230 pm, scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue grow in coverage and intensity across the Lower and Middle Keys as well as the adjacent nearshore and offshore coastal waters. This activity will move generally to the northwest near 15 knots. Mariners encountering the stronger activity can expect wind gusts up to 30 knots, reduced visibilities in heavy downpours, and occasional cloud to surface lightning strikes. Over land, most island communities between Key West and Marathon may see rainfall amounts up to one half an inch. $$
