Through 430 pm, a band of showers and embedded thunderstorms across the offshore Gulf waters, western Straits of Florida, western Hawk Channel, and the western Gulfside waters will continue to spread north northeastward at 15 to 20 knots. The moderate rain will continue for the Dry Tortugas. The stronger activity will be capable of reduced visibility in moderate to heavy downpours, wind gusts near 30 knots, and, at times, frequent lightning strikes. Elsewhere, widely scattered showers with embedded thunderstorms will be found over the distant Florida Straits off of the Lower and Middle Keys. $$
