At 222 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Moss Bluff to near Hayes. Movement was northeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to vegetation and outdoor objects is possible. Locations impacted include... Lake Charles, Westlake, Welsh, Iowa, Hayes, Moss Bluff, Buhler, Lebleu Settlement, Gillis, Lacassine, and Bell City. This includes the following highways... Interstate 10 in Louisiana between mile markers 29 and 51. Interstate 210 between mile markers 10 and 12. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding.
