Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
1017 AM EDT Tue Jun 25 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.2 inch low over James Bay will continue to track
eastward this afternoon. One associated trough of 29.5 inches over
Lake Superior will move east of the lake during the afternoon, and
a second trough of 29.7 inches will sweep southeast across Lake
Superior this evening. In its wake, 30.2 inch high pressure over
the Canadian Prairies Wednesday morning will weaken to 30.0 inches
as it moves southeast, reaching the Upper Mississippi Valley
Wednesday night. This high will then shift east across the Great
Lakes region on Thursday. As high builds to 30.1 inches while
moving to New England by Friday morning, 29.4 inch low pressure
will track east to the eastern Dakotas. This low will then weaken
29.6 inches as it tracks over or just north of Lake Superior
during Friday night and Saturday morning. As the low heads toward
southern Quebec on Saturday, 30.2 inch high pressure will build
over the Northern Plains.
