The aforementioned upper trof wl cont to work eastward today, with high lvl clouds sloly decreasing. Thereafter, upper heights wl be incrsg in the coming days, along with daytime high temps. With the sfc ridge persisting ovr the FA, gulf moisture return wl be shunted to our west, keeping assocd aftn heat index values below critical thresholds the next 2 days. && .LONG TERM... (Friday through Tuesday) Issued at 306 AM CDT Wed Jun 12 2024 The period will begin with high pressure building over the region from the central/southern Plains. Under the ridge, mostly dry conditions are expected, and hot temperatures are in the forecast Friday through the weekend. While well above normal temperatures will be noted, heat index values will generally stay below dangerous levels. Dewpoints will be in the 60s Friday/Saturday, with heat index values struggling to reach triple digits in places by Saturday. Moisture levels will edge higher on Sunday, and dewpoints may approach 70 degrees in parts of central/southern/eastern Arkansas. In these areas, afternoon heat indices should peak from 100 to 105 degrees. Early next week, the ridge will wobble to the east. There is some indication that tropical moisture will head this way from the Gulf Coast. Temperatures will not be as hot Monday/Tuesday, and there will be isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon/evening. && .AVIATION...
