Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
128 PM CDT Fri Jun 7 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Afternoon humidities fall below critical levels each day into early
next week along/west of the Pecos River. While light winds curb any
concerns of critical conditions, the dry air, above average
temperatures, and very dry fuelscape could still support IA fires
out west. There is a chance for a stray thunderstorm to form off the
Davis Mountains and western high terrain nearly every afternoon
through next week which could lead to occasional lighting starts,
some storms could even feature dry lightning at times. A weak front
brings temperatures back to near-normal for Monday along with some
higher rainfall chances before we snap right back to the current
pattern for the remainder of next week.
