Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
234 PM PDT Sat Jun 22 2024

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 8 PM PDT SUNDAY FOR
STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONE 285...

...Gusty westerly winds with low afternoon humidity today and
Sunday east of the Cascades...

.DISCUSSION...A dry trough will move through tonight cooling
temperatures on Sunday and delivering good overnight recoveries
tonight and Sunday night, but increasing the wind speeds at ridge
level and all areas east of the Cascades. Dry conditions will be
maintained on the east side. The strongest winds will be east of
the Cascades. Sunday will be the peak of this combination of low
RH and breezy winds (80+% chance for Eastside), and critical
conditions are expected for a few hours. Fuels are of course
tricky this time of year, and this may be the limiting factor
regarding fire weather conditions this weekend. High pressure with
warming and drying will return Monday into Tuesday.
