838 FXUS63 KMPX 251135 AFDMPX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN 635 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 .KEY MESSAGES... - Highs in the upper 70s to mid 80s are expected through the weekend before a cool down arrives to start the month of October. - Dry conditions are expected to persist with no meaningful rainfall in sight. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 222 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Another quiet night is in progress across the region, with satellite only showing some low/mid level clouds and some patchy fog moving across northwestern Wisconsin and central Minnesota. Fog is expected to become more widespread across portions of central Minnesota and western Wisconsin through this morning. Once this mixes out, we`re looking at another sunny and warm day. Temperatures will be around 5 degrees warmer than yesterday with highs approaching the 80 degree mark. By Thursday, the majority of the area will likely break 80 with upper level ridging in place. Daily highs and overnight lows will continue to run some 10 degrees above average through the weekend, with Saturday looking to be the warmest day of the period. While it doesn`t look to be a record warm day for most with highs topping out in the mid 80s, St. Cloud and Eau Claire may come within a couple degrees of their record highs (85 and 86 respectively). Things slowly begin to cool down for the second half of the weekend, but a more dramatic cool down with a return to more seasonable temperatures looks to arrive sometime late Monday/early Tuesday. A strong cold front will sweep across the Upper Midwest, but there`s very little, if any, chance for precip to accompany it. && .AVIATION /12Z TAFS THROUGH 12Z THURSDAY/... Issued at 635 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024 Patchy fog is expected to continue into mid morning, especially at STC, RNH, and EAU. IFR or lower conditions are likely at times.
