low as one-quarter of a mile can be expected in dense fog.

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 300 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024

Other than concern for areas of dense fog (central/east-central) and
a few departing showers and thunderstorms (southeast Oklahoma)
this morning, a low impact weather day is expected. Behind the
passage of a surface front, winds have gone light and skies have
cleared. Combined with locally heavy rainfall last evening, areas
of fog are emerging. This includes locally dense pockets
(<0.25-mile visibility). Concern for dense fog is expected to
persist through ~9 AM this morning.

Otherwise, in the wake of a frontal/upper low passage, cool and dry
surface weather is forecast. In addition to seasonable temperatures
(upper-70s to mid-80s), a dry (post-frontal) airmass will create
very pleasant feeling conditions during the day today.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Tuesday)
Issued at 300 AM CDT Wed Sep 25 2024

The current expectation is for surface conditions on Thursday to
closely mirror those observed on Wednesday (upper-70s to 80s
ambient temperatures and dry conditions). By Friday, guidance
continues to show a closed upper system across the Mid-South
strengthening as it interacts with Tropical Cyclone Helene. While
this feature is expected to retrograde some, dprog/dt over past
model cycles has been for the system to remain further east of our
area. In turn, chances for (scattered) precipitation during the
late week continue to decrease over past updates. Only low-to-
very low (up to 20%) chances exist from Friday into Saturday
across eastern Oklahoma. A thunderstorm or two is also possible,
though severe weather is not anticipated. Seasonable (high
temperatures in the 80s) and dry weather is then expected from the
weekend into next week.
