714 FXUS64 KOUN 160749 AFDOUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 249 AM CDT Sun Jun 16 2024 ...New SHORT TERM, LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 247 AM CDT Sun Jun 16 2024 Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible early this morning over western and northern Oklahoma as a weak upper wave exits to the east. In the hot, humid air mass with weak southwesterly flow aloft, isolated storms may occur this afternoon and early most anywhere over western or northern Oklahoma. Severe weather is not expected. && .LONG TERM... (Monday through Saturday) Issued at 247 AM CDT Sun Jun 16 2024 Much of the next week will be dominated by a strong upper ridge to the southeast of Oklahoma and southwesterly flow to the northwest. Above normal temperatures are expected over the southern plains through late Tuesday when a front approaches northern Oklahoma. This will bring another chance for showers/thunderstorms likely continuing into mid-week as the front dissipates over Oklahoma. Low storm chances continue through the week as the upper ridge remains strongest to the south and east of Oklahoma. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1105 PM CDT Sat Jun 15 2024 The showers and thunderstorms that were moving toward northwest Oklahoma from the Oklahoma/Texas panhandles have dissipated, so shower and storm chances are low enough to not include in any of the TAFs. Winds will increase from the south after sunrise on Sunday. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
