Synopsis for the E Pacific within 250 nm of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...Recently downgraded Tropical Storm John is centered
near 17.3N 100.0W, or about 45 miles east of Acapulco, Mexico at
2 AM PDT. It is moving northwest at 7 kt. Maximum sustained
winds have diminished to 60 kt with gusts to 75 kt, and the
minimum central pressure is 990 mb. John will move inland and
weaken to a tropical depression near 17.4N 100.8W this afternoon,
move to near 17.0N 101.0W late tonight with maximum sustained
winds 30 kt gusts 40 kt, move to near 16.7N 100.9W Wed
afternoon, to near 16.9N 100.6W late Wed night and inland to near
17.4N 100.7W Thu afternoon. John is forecast to become a remnant
low late Thu night near 18.1N 101.3W and dissipate early Sat.
Otherwise, high pressure will maintain generally gentle to
moderate northwest to north winds over the offshore waters. Winds
are forecast to increase to fresh speeds over most of the
offshore waters starting Wed, with little change expected going
into the early part of the upcoming weekend.
