Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western and Central Wyoming...AMENDED
National Weather Service Riverton WY
227 AM MDT Sat Jun 29 2024

.DISCUSSION...

...Yellowstone NP and Teton dispatch areas (includes fire weather
zones 140...414...415...and 416)...

High temperatures today are about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than
yesterday. Winds are lighter today, with similar afternoon RHs to
yesterday, though zone 140 is a bit drier today. Drier for Sunday,
with gusty afternoon winds. Warmer too, though some clouds over zone
140 lessens the warm-up there. Rain chances begin to move into zone
140 Sunday afternoon, spreading south and east into Sunday night.

...Cody dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 275...276...
282...283...285...286...287...288...and 289)...

About 5 degrees warmer today. RHs between 15% and 20% are common for
the lower elevations. Winds are less today, being 10 to 15 mph most
places. Much drier Sunday, with hot temperatures and gusty afternoon
winds. Elevated fire weather conditions Sunday. A few showers or
thunderstorms are possible over the higher elevations zones Sunday
afternoon.

...Casper dispatch area (includes fire weather zones 277...278...
279...280...281...285...289...and 300)...

***FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING FOR ZONE 280***

Similar temperatures today, with highs being around 10 degrees
warmer for zones 277 and 278. Not as windy today, but afternoon
gusts 20 to 25 mph occur across the Wind Corridor. Isolated (15% to
50%) showers and thunderstorms occur starting mid-afternoon across
mainly zones 279 and 289, but could spread to nearby zones too. Main
concern with these are gusty outflow winds to around 50 mph. These
winds could create localized elevated fire conditions. Hot, very
dry, and windy Sunday, with elevated fire weather conditions for
most of the area. Sunday afternoon showers and thunderstorms
possible. There is some uncertainty with afternoon RHs Sunday
afternoon across the Wind Corridor.

...Thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds...
...Haines Index is high level Haines both day and night...
