.SYNOPSIS...
Gradually cooler for the coast and valleys into the middle of the
week with slight cooling for the deserts for late in the week.
There is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms for the
mountains into the high desert for this afternoon and early
evening with lesser chances for Tuesday afternoon. Drier and
warmer for next weekend.

&&

.DISCUSSION...FOR EXTREME SOUTHWESTERN CALIFORNIA INCLUDING ORANGE...
SAN DIEGO...WESTERN RIVERSIDE AND SOUTHWESTERN SAN BERNARDINO
COUNTIES...

.SHORT TERM (Today through Wednesday)...
High temperatures for the coast and valleys will cool a few to
around 5 degrees each day for today and Tuesday with only slight
additional cooling for Wednesday through Friday. Cooling for the
deserts will be much less, only a few degrees with the relatively
cooler days some time around Thursday and Friday and possibly
Saturday.

The convection on Sunday afternoon and early evening was mostly
along convergence boundaries in the mountains and into the high
desert. The same basic pattern will hold for today and Tuesday,
but with decrease coverage and chances as moisture decreases.

While there will continue to be few, if any, high temperature
records tied or broken, there could once again be several records
tied or broken for warmest daily minimum temperatures for today
and again Tuesday. On Sunday, there were records broken for
warmest minimum temperature for 11 locations with a tie at one
more location.

Some patchy night and morning low clouds may return some time
around the middle of the week.

&&

.LONG TERM (Thursday through Sunday)...
Toward the end of the week, NBM has the greatest warming for the
coast and valleys on Saturday and for the deserts on Sunday with
the greatest spread in the high temperature guidance for the
weekend into early next week for the valleys with narrower spread
for the deserts. The Excessive Heat Warning for the deserts
continues through Thursday. The slight decrease in Heat Risk for
the lower deserts on Friday and Saturday is mostly due to drying
of lower level moisture and resulting nights that aren`t quite as
warm.
