...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM MONDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
MONDAY EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...
Early this afternoon, Zion NP is sitting on the far western
periphery of some limited moisture. A few cumulus buildups over
and just east of the Park, but not to the west of the Park,
delineate this moisture gradient. As such, cannot rule out an
isolated shower or thunderstorm developing over or near Zion (20%
chance), mainly over the next couple of hours through around 4PM.
Currently the cumulus in the area appear relatively flat and
aren`t showing any immediate signs of development. If these
cumulus don`t develop before around 4-5pm, the chance of a
shower/thunderstorm over the Park quickly drops to near zero this
evening. With the limited moisture in place and fast flow, if any
storms develops it would be moving rather quickly and would be
unlikely to produce much rainfall, limiting the chance of any
flash flooding, which is a very low (<5%) chance at this time.

Outside of that near term potential, hot, dry and breezy
conditions will prevail for the rest of today into this evening,
and will redevelop again on Monday. Southerly winds will funnel up
the Narrows this afternoon and again tomorrow, with lighter
northerly drainage winds resuming overnight. Wind gusts will be
slightly stronger over the exposed ridgelines above the canyon, up
to 35 mph today and up to 30 mph on Monday. Slightly more
westerly component to the flow on Monday is expected to keep the
moisture east of the Park, thus largely precluding any chance for
a shower or thunderstorm on Monday.
