855 FZUS52 KTAE 120857 SRFTAE Surf Zone Forecast National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 457 AM EDT Wed Jun 12 2024 .THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK... Early this morning, the buoy located 88 miles south-southeast of Apalachicola was observing waves as high as 4 feet with a dominant period of 7 to 8 seconds, along with a mean wave direction from the south- southeast. These waves will be affecting Forgotten Coast beaches this morning, and they should spread to Emerald Coast beaches by this afternoon. As a result, the forecast rip current risk today is upgraded to a high risk. From Thursday through this weekend, moderate to fresh southeast breezes over the distant southeast Gulf will continue to send sufficiently energetic surf to easily support a high risk of rip currents along Emerald Coast and Forgotten Coast beaches.
