357 FNAK52 PAFG 232212 FWFWCZ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western Alaska National Weather Service Fairbanks AK 212 PM AKDT Sun Jun 23 2024 .DISCUSSION...The warm and dry conditions will continue until Tuesday evening. High pressure will be the primary influence to the interior weather. With some weak waves of energy going through the high pressure bringing a slight chance for thunderstorms in the higher terrain. Temperatures will see a slight warming with the warmest being Wednesday where the Western Interior could see upper 70s and some spots hitting 80. Minimum RH values will be in the 30 to 40 range with the coastal areas being near 50. We will see significant recovery overnight with values greater than 70. Wind will look to remain light with sustained winds below 10 mph except for coastal areas, where they could see sustained winds up to 15 mph. Tuesday we will have a low pressure system approach the Y-K Delta coast and could bring sustained 20 to 25 mph southerly winds as far inland as Holy Cross. This system could bring a round of showers bringing as much as 0.25" of rain. However there is still uncertainty on timing, duration, and quantity of rain. When this system moves through the Western Interior expect a general cooling trend across the region.
