Subject: Upgrade of the Real Time Ocean Forecast System (RTOFS)
to version 2.4: Effective September 13, 2024

Effective on or about Tuesday, September 13, 2024 with the 1200
Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) cycle, The National Centers for
Environmental Prediction (NCEP) will upgrade the Real Time Ocean
Forecast System (RTOFS) to v2.4.

The proposed changes include:

- HYCOM upgrades that mitigate HYCOM crashes and improve model
stability
- Added integrity check for all netCDF and HDF5 data
- Added Restart capability for Hybrid Ocean Model (HYCOM)
- Added processing of GOES-18 data

The above changes will help prevent delays in delivery times.

Selected OpenDAP files for rtofs_glo_3dz will be removed from
NOMADS with this upgrade.
