.DISCUSSION...Today and tonight...Warmer and drier air will be
over Colorado today. It will become breezy in the afternoon, and
areas near the northern border and over the northeast plains will
have near critical fire weather conditions for a few hours this
afternoon. Only isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected,
but localized strong wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible from
any showers that develop.
LONG TERM DISCUSSION...Thursday through Sunday...
Mostly dry conditions are expected Thursday. Relative humidities
drop as low as 12-17 percent for areas south of I-70 but winds
remain light thus staying under warning criteria. Wetting rains are
expected across the region Friday. Sunday, marginal fire weather
conditions are possible for the Palmer Divide, South Park, and
adjacent plains due to combination of low relative humidity between
14-18 percent and wind gusts up to 20 mph. Thursday, very good to
excellent smoke dispersal conditions exist for the mountains,
foothills, and urban corridor.
