DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Limited. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. DISCUSSION... Unseasonably warm temperatures will persist through the afternoon, along with slightly higher relative humidity. As a result, heat index values between 100-105 degrees are expected in parts of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas this afternoon and will persist through about sunset before temperatures cool down. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. SUNDAY AND MONDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. THURSDAY AND FRIDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Upper level high pressure will continue to bring increasing heat and humidity to the region through the remainder of the weekend and into next week. The combination of temperature and moisture will lead to widespread triple digit heat index values and increased potential for heat stress impacts. Heat headlines will likely be needed.
