341 FZUS52 KTAE 232217 SRFTAE Surf Zone Forecast National Weather Service Tallahassee FL 617 PM EDT Sun Jun 23 2024 .THE SURF ZONE FORECAST GENERAL OUTLOOK... A persistent long period southerly swell up to 9 seconds will continue into midweek due to disturbed weather in the Gulf. Conditions in the surf zone on Monday and Tuesday will be very similar to the past couple days. As a result, numerous and life-threatening rip currents will continue, especially along the Bay County Beaches, such as Panama City. We have high confidence that the rip current risk will remain extraordinarily high through at least Tuesday night. While the weather is nice for beachgoers, dangerous rip currents will lurk just below the surface, despite surf heights of only around 2 feet. Beachgoers should take note of all beach flags and follow the orders of beach safety officials. Beaches in Bay County and Saint Joseph Peninsula State Park are fly Double Red flags, which means the water is closed to swimming due to numerous and life-threatening rip currents, and beachgoers should remain out of the water. Based on communication with area beach officials, the following flags are flying at area beaches: Walton........................Red Bay...........................Double Red State Park Gulf Beaches.......Double Red West Facing Gulf Beaches......Red South Facing Gulf Beaches.....Red Franklin......................Red FLZ108-232345- South Walton- Including the beaches of Sandestin, Santa Rosa Beach, and Turquoise Beach 517 PM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024 ...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT... .REST OF TODAY...
