...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in Iowa...

  Winnebago River at Mason City affecting Cerro Gordo, Worth and
  Floyd Counties.

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Iowa...

  Des Moines River at Fort Dodge affecting Webster County.

  West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg affecting Pocahontas and
  Palo Alto Counties.

  West Fork Des Moines River at Estherville affecting Emmet County.

  West Fork Des Moines River at Humboldt affecting Humboldt County.

  East Fork Des Moines River near Algona affecting Humboldt and
  Kossuth Counties.

.Heavy rain has fallen across much of northern Iowa from Friday
evening into the early morning hours Saturday. Many locations in the
Upper Des Moines River basin have received at least three to four
inches of rainfall. This is expected to lead to moderate to major
flooding in several locations.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

For the latest river and stream observations and forecasts refer to
weather.gov/desmoines/water.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

River forecasts include observed precipitation through 7pm Friday
evening, plus forecast precipitation overnight tonight through
Sunday morning.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT FROM THIS MORNING TO EARLY WEDNESDAY
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The Winnebago River at Mason City, or from Beaver Creek
  near Fertile to the Shell Rock River near Rockford.

* WHEN...From this morning to early Wednesday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...At 17.4 feet, Water reaches bottom of railroad bridge
  east of Kentucky Ave bridge.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:30 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 7.4 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    this morning to a crest of 16.3 feet just after midnight
    tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early Wednesday
    morning.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
  - This crest would be comparable to the crest of 15.7 feet in
    late march of 1933.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Emmetsburg, or from near
  Graettinger to Cylinder Creek near West Bend.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 14.0 feet, Sandbagging operations occur for
  businesses along US 18 on the west side of town in and near the
  flood plain.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 11.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 14.1
    feet Monday evening.
  - Flood stage is 11.0 feet.

  occur.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 14.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 16.8
    feet early Tuesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
  - This crest would exceed the crest that occurred in April
    1965.

  record.

* WHERE...The West Fork Des Moines River at Humboldt, or from Joe
  Reasoner Dam to the East Fork Des Moines River.

* WHEN...From this morning until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 14.5 feet, Water affects houses along W River Dr.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 9.3 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    this morning and continue rising to a crest of 16.0 feet
    Wednesday morning.
  - Flood stage is 10.0 feet.
  - This crest would exceed the crest that occurred in April
    1969.

NOTICE...

* WHAT...Moderate flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...The East Fork Des Moines River near Algona, or from
  Buffalo Creek near Burt to Lotts Creek near Livermore.

* WHEN...From this afternoon until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 22.0 feet, Water affects the shopping center parking
  lot and approaches the buildings. Water also affects US 169 near
  and north of Saint Joseph. Water may also threaten many bridges
  over the Des Moines River in the area with washouts. Many roads
  across Kossuth County may be closed.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:15 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 16.2 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    this afternoon and continue rising to a crest of 21.2 feet
    early Tuesday afternoon.
  - Flood stage is 17.0 feet.

* WHERE...The Des Moines River at Fort Dodge, or from the municipal
  power dam to Lehigh.

* WHEN...From this evening until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 17.0 feet, Water reaches the bottom of the railroad
  trestle approach.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 2:00 AM CDT Saturday the stage was 8.0 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
    late this evening and continue rising to a crest of 18.0 feet
    Wednesday evening.
  - Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
  - This crest would exceed the crest that occurred in June 2010.
