660 FZUS52 KKEY 291431 CWFKEY Coastal Waters Forecast for the Florida Keys National Weather Service Key West FL 1031 AM EDT Sat Jun 29 2024 Florida Bay, Hawk Channel and Straits of Florida from Ocean Reef to south of Dry Tortugas, and the extreme southeastern Gulf of Mexico, including The Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Seas are given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Wave Detail will include details about the period and direction of origin for the highest energy waves. Long-period swells coming from a different direction than the wind would be included in the Wave Detail. GMZ005-292045- Synopsis for Keys coastal waters from Ocean Reef to Dry Tortugas 1031 AM EDT Sat Jun 29 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Breezes will freshen today as the gradient between a disturbance in the southwestern Gulf and a North Atlantic ridge tightens briefly. As the disturbance moves westward into Central America, the gradient will relax, resulting in gentle to moderate east to southeast breezes through Wednesday. Tropical Storm Beryl is forecast to move south of Cuba starting Wednesday night. Breezes across the Florida Keys will freshen as the system transits westward well south of our area.
