...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHEASTERN EVANGELINE...
SOUTHWESTERN AVOYELLES AND NORTH CENTRAL ST. LANDRY PARISHES THROUGH
500 PM CDT...

At 435 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Chicot State Park, or near Ville Platte, moving east at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor damage to vegetation and outdoor
         objects is possible.

Locations impacted include...
Opelousas, Ville Platte, Morrow, Pine Prairie, Washington, Bayou
Chicot, Prairie Ronde, Indian Lake, Chicot State Park, Whiteville,
Big Cane, Grand Prairie, and St. Landry.

This includes Interstate 49 between mile markers 25 and 53.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.
