Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas... At 309 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, producing winds to around 25 to 30 knots per recent KNEW Lakefront Airport observations. This thunderstorm was located near Orleans Marina, moving northwest at 5 knots. Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and dangerous lightning strikes.
