Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
230 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024

.DISCUSSION...

Minimum relative humidities generally fall into the 15-20 percent
range each afternoon but light winds largely limit fire concerns
to IA. However, isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms in and
around the Davis Mountains each afternoon will make lightning
fire starts possible especially with dry fuels. Fuels are driest
along/west of the Pecos River with ERCs largely above the 75th
percentile while fuel moisture is less concerning across the
Permian Basin aided by good overnight recovery. Rain chances
increase across the entire area late Sunday into Monday as a cold
front moves into the area.
