.DISCUSSION...

A cold morning by June standards is in place this morning as low
temperatures dip below freezing across Sierra valley communities.
Across western Nevada, residual winds have kept temperatures up a
bit but colder valleys with light winds have dipped into the 30s.

Our brief cool snap will transition back to a steady warming trend
as our temperatures return to season normals by Wednesday before
reaching back into the upper 90s this weekend across western
Nevada. Basin and range communities such as Lovelock, Fallon, and
Hawthorne could reach triple digit highs by Saturday with areas
of widespread moderate heat risk expected over the weekend. Its
summer, it gets hot, but just be sure to take common sense precautions
if you are spending extended periods of time out in the heat.

Otherwise we`ll be looking at mainly dry conditions with light
afternoon winds up until the weekend where increased heating could
yield increased westerly zephyr breezes during the afternoon. The
heating will help destabilize things during the afternoon, but
we`ll be embedded in a dry southwest flow which may limit any
shower or thunderstorm chances over the weekend to less than a 10%
chance. Fuentes
