DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Significant. AREA...All Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Far northeast Oklahoma and Arkansas River Valley locations. DISCUSSION... Dangerously hot conditions will continue through into this evening across all of Eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas with afternoon heat index values ranging between 105-112 degrees. Conditions will improve gradually after sunset. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. THURSDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. FRIDAY...High Wind Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...Thunderstorm Potential...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat will continue Tuesday for all of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Chances for showers and storms will increase late Tuesday and continue into Wednesday in association with an upper wave and approaching cold front. Slightly cooler temperatures may be felt across parts of the area in the wake of this system Wednesday and Thursday, but any relief will be short lived as hot conditions return by the end of the work week. Chances for showers and storms may return to at least parts of the area this upcoming weekend as another front approaches from the north.
