Cold front imminent in next 1-2 hrs for Denver metro, and will
bring shift to north winds with gusts up to 20 kts at times.
Expect reduction in speeds after 1 to 2 hours post-front, with
generally north flow prevailing still. Some low clouds 025-035 may
trickle in after ~09Z Sat, but suspect any CIGS would be on the
patchier side, with better chances from KDEN eastward into the
plains. Any low cloud cover should dissipate near 16-17Z.
Winds will be out of the southeast for most of the day tomorrow.
Scattered convection will develop mid afternoon, with greater
coverage immediately due south of Denver. Leaning on bulk of
convection remaining south of KDEN, but do believe stronger TS are
possible relative to yesterday, so have replaced VCSH with VCTS
or -TSRA in TEMPO (terminal-dependent). Some outflow winds
possible (favoring southerly direction), but expect outflow threat
to be less than previous days. As convection moves into the
southeast plains, more robust south flow will take hold in the
evening and overnight, when gusts have a higher potential of
exceeding 30 kts. Also monitoring for potential intrusion of low
to mid-level cloud cover Saturday night under a moist environment,
but confidence is low.

Weather is expected to be rather active during this forecast
period, especially for KCOS and KPUB. First, a rather strong
cold front is going to come down the eastern plains tonight,
crossing KCOS around 09 UTC and KPUB at 10 UTC. Wind could gusts
to 35 to 40 knots (or briefly higher), with the winds only
slowly decreasing and gradually veering to easterly then
southeasterly by late morning. Second, a strong band of showers
and thunderstorms are expected to cross over the KPUB and KCOS
taf sites around 00 UTC late tomorrow afternoon, with locally
heavy rain and possibly some hail. Strong gusty winds from the
northwest are likely with the storms.
AT KALS, VFR is likely through nearly all of the fcst
period, with some TSRA being possible during tomorrow
afternoon.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms have persisted longer than
earlier anticipated with storms currently impacting KGJT and
threatening to move into KMTX by within the hour. There`s a
chance storms coming off the La Sals will reach KTEX, but didn`t
have the confidence to include at this time. Despite showers, VFR
conditions are expected for all TAF sites during the next 24
hours. Storms will dissipate this evening with clearing occurring
overnight. The region will see fewer showers and thunderstorms
on Saturday afternoon. Winds will shift to a light drainage flow
early this morning, switching to normal upslope flow on Saturday
afternoon.

.AVIATION...KSLC...VFR conditions will continue tonight and tomorrow
with dry weather and generally clear conditions. Northwest winds up
to 10kts this afternoon will pivot to southeast between 3Z and 6Z.
South to southwest winds are expected by mid-morning tomorrow,
likely in the 10 to 15 knot range. There is uncertainty in the
timing of stronger south to southwest winds developing, with a 50%
chance of this change occurring by 15Z.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...Scattered cumulus
over the higher terrain east of US-89, with a few embedded showers
and thunderstorms, will continue through the early evening before
dissipating. Elsewhere, expect generally clear conditions with light
winds. Similar conditions are expected tomorrow with a further
downward trend in cumulus/shower/thunderstorm activity. Stronger
southerly sustained winds of 10-20 knots with gusts to around 25 kts
will develop by tomorrow afternoon.

VFR conditions for entirety of the period for all TAF sites.
Scattered high clouds and diminished winds overnight into
Saturday morning. Some mid level clouds push in west of the
Divide after 20-21Z with some small chances for thunderstorms
near RKS. Very sporadic in nature with low confidence on
station through 00Z. Otherwise, breezy winds up to 18kts
diminishing after 00-02Z with radiational cooling towards sunset
with clouds lifting to the upper levels. A backdoor trough will
push through east of the Divide after 00Z turning winds more
easterly becoming breezy over 10-12kts even during night time
cooling with gusts up to 25kts at CPR through the end of the
period. Winds will continue into Sunday as well.

could also increase chances for low level moisture. For now...it
looks like low clouds do not develop in the Panhandle until

VFR conditions are expected to prevail through the TAF period. As a
cold front continues to push through western and north central
Nebraska, winds will be generally out of the north and northwest.
Winds may get gusty across portions of north central Nebraska behind
the front through the morning hours, before winds are expected to
calm. During the evening, winds will begin shifting from northerly
to westerly, but expected to remain generally light.

Aside from a potential for sub-VFR conditions associated with
thunderstorms at both terminals late this evening into tonight
(~06-09Z).. VFR conditions will otherwise prevail through the
TAF period. Aside from gusty/erratic winds invof any
thunderstorms.. winds will remain light/variable this evening
and overnight. Around or shortly after sunrise, winds are
expected to abruptly shift to the N-NNE and increase to 15-25
knots (GLD) or ~12-18 knots (MCK). Northerly winds will veer
toward the northeast and decrease to 7-12 knots by early
afternoon.. remaining light and further veering to the east by
the end of the TAF period.

A backdoor cold front approaching the NM-CO line near KTAD as of
this writing will move south into northeast New Mexico overnight,
bringing a north to northeasterly wind shift. Air behind the
front is rich with Gulf moisture and with upslope flow developing
on the east faces of the central mountain chain Saturday, a
notable increase in strong to severe storms is expected Saturday
afternoon. Slow moving storms will be capable of torrential
rainfall, small hail, gusty and erratic wet downburst winds, and
brief reductions to ceilings and visibility.
